Difference between eyebrow tattooing and laminating?

I’m of that age where I plucked my eyebrows beyond redemption (even shaved them once!) and that, plus menopause, chemo etc etc, means I have hardly any left at all. I’ve managed with drawing them in, not always successfully and now dye them myself which is ok. I’ve tried to go for tattooing but they couldn’t do it “as they weren’t insured” due to my blood cancer and treatment which makes me bruise easily.

I’ve just learned about laminating. Don’t know anything about it, I think it only lasts 6 weeks but that would get me through Christmas and then I can see what I think to carry on. It would be a relief to know I have eyebrows every day without worrying about them and I do think nice eyebrows frame the face.

Does it involve puncturing the skin which would not be allowed for me? I’m reluctant to go in a salon with the girls and seem totally ignorant.

One of our younger ones had it done, said it’s like a perm for the eyebrows. Not sure if that”s so dolly. To be truthful I could see no difference in her brows.

Hi Dolly, I was curious and Googled it and this site provides a good explanation (I think). It appears to be "like a perm for your eyebrows". I don't think any skin puncturing is involved.

Oh thanks for your replies. I’ve tried that at home ages ago, like a perm for my eyebrows. It didn’t do much as my eyebrows are so sparse. No point in paying for it, I’ll try it again myself.

A friend was due to have this done - haven't spoken to her since so I'm wondering how it turned out.

From what I've googled, the solution is applied then the hairs are flattened into place to give a definite shape, something like that!

Could be suitable for my pesky brows as they're not sparse but grow in all directions.

My friend had very thin hair even when we were at school. She has now lost a lot of her hair and wears a wig if we go out. Her eyebrows have also nearly vanished so she has had them laminated. If you look really closely you can see that they aren't quite natural but she does look as if she still has eyebrows.

Your friend sounds like me. I’d be prepared to try something that wouldn’t last for very long if it looked awful. I put eyebrow powder on the few hairs I have left on my brows but I fear that, if my eyesight was better I’d look at myself and realise how awful they look.
