It isn’t my style, but….

I just came across this rather cheerful looking 70 year old lady on Instagram. She makes most of her own clothes, from vintage fabrics. Not my style, but I do think she looks great, and colourful!

She looks great!
It’s very Gudrun Sjoden (I’m sure I’ve spelled that wrong)

Yes, it’s a similar look isn’t it?

Just had a look at her Instagram, some of the garments she’s made are really lovely. It’s her use of the vintage fabrics that I love, it’s re-cycling and re-using at it’s best. Very talented woman.

I love that! There are some really beautiful vintage fabrics around and it’s great to see something new being created from them,

It's a bit too 'look at me' for my taste but good for her for recycling - I'm sure it suits an outgoing personality.

I like those red boots!

I like some of the clothes and like the boots but overall I think it looks a bit of a mess.

I like some of the clothes and like the boots but overall I think it looks a bit of a mess.

Perhaps the word we need is eclectic.
🙂

Or eccentric?smile

kittylester Fri 18-Nov-22 16:10:42

It's far too eclectic for me. But good for her.

I think she looks good. I do have a pair of red shoes which I wore for the first time this week!

Beechnut Fri 18-Nov-22 16:22:30

I like her red shoes.

rafichagran Fri 18-Nov-22 16:23:16

I think she looks good as well.

Beechnut Fri 18-Nov-22 16:29:12

I see she has those red shoes in other colours too 😀

Sarah74 Fri 18-Nov-22 16:31:07

Well, she looks happy enough!

In one of her Insta posts, she says she found her style in the late 1970s, and hopes to continue dressing like this for another 30 years. I wish I had the guts to be more adventurous in how I dress, I don’t really know when I became so boring.

At the local Craft Fair I was standing near a woman wearing the most fabulous shiny purple/lilac coat. I went up to her and said how much I liked/wanted it. She told me she had bought it at a charity shop in Brighton for £1.00 !

Coolgran65 Sat 19-Nov-22 04:55:23

I like her clothing just not all worn at the same time.
I do have red shoes that I wear often with a red scarf and often with red dangly earrings but the rest will be navy or charcoal.

Kate1949 Sat 19-Nov-22 09:54:10

I love the red shoes. They remind me of sandals I wore as a child.

Riverwalk Sat 19-Nov-22 10:09:56

To be honest I think the yellow outfit looks awful, and not too keen on the schoolgirl red sandals.

But each to their own - looks like she's enjoying herself!

Yammy Sat 19-Nov-22 10:33:46

To me, she looks 90 not 70 and very eccentric.
Good for her if she makes her own clothes but I personally would have to tone it down a bit. I don't like clothes that stand out and make people stare.
I try hard not to look my age or Pippy long stockings grandma.

Farzanah Sat 19-Nov-22 10:45:36

She looks the archetypical granny in a nursery rhyme.

Redhead56 Sat 19-Nov-22 10:58:39

Very clever and resourceful indeed but a bit too in your face for me.

eazybee Sat 19-Nov-22 11:09:14

She's wearing my bedroom curtains, circa 1971 (deeply loved then) in the brown and yellow outfit!
