Oh no! Loved him. Went to see him and Cockney Rebel at De Montfort Hall in Leicester. RIP

MissAdventure Sun 17-Mar-24 12:02:12

Ah, I love his music.
How sad.

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 17-Mar-24 12:05:44

I love his music too. ‘Make me Smile’ always does just that. So sad he’s gone.

MissAdventure Sun 17-Mar-24 12:09:44

It's such a quirky song; the lyrics and music, plus his unusual voice. smile

Purplepixie Sun 17-Mar-24 12:12:37

RIP Steve. You always made me smile.

Aww I've got a pen drive in my car and Make me Smile is one of my favourite songs on it. RIP Steve. xx

Casdon Sun 17-Mar-24 12:13:21

Very sad, RIP Steve.

utterbliss Sun 17-Mar-24 12:24:11

I loved that song. RIP Steve.

Oldnproud Sun 17-Mar-24 12:42:48

Another sad loss 😔

TerriBull Sun 17-Mar-24 13:00:26

Sorry to read of his early death, due to cancer I believe. I enjoyed Cockney Rebel's music when they were popular.

I’m really sad to hear this news. I remember my brother and I singing along to Make me smile when we were younger. RIP Steve

Bridie22 Sun 17-Mar-24 14:05:02

Thanks for the smiles and music Steve, rest now.

BlueBelle Sun 17-Mar-24 14:36:32

I ll say it very quietly (never heard of him)

Calendargirl Sun 17-Mar-24 14:38:03

But I bet you know the song BlueBelle when you hear it.

It does ‘make you smile’.

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 17-Mar-24 16:24:09

BlueBelle, do you remember ‘Come up and see me sometime, make me smi-i-i-ile’? Such a great song.

kittylester Sun 17-Mar-24 16:27:01

We were having lunch at the Post House near Stoke. He also came in and had lunch - wearing his slippers.

RIP Steve Harley

rafichagran Sun 17-Mar-24 16:35:35

Oh no, I loved Steve Harley, especially make me smile. RIP Steve and thanks for the music which lives on.

I'm another who loved Steve Harley and his lovely song. Somehow it doesn't seem to matter that he was mostly known just for that one song! It was such a special song it will live in our hearts forever. 🥰💐🙋‍♀️

BeverleyJB Sun 17-Mar-24 16:48:53

I knew Steve was very ill but genuinely thought he would recover as he'd said he would be touring again, so the news was something of a shock. Have seen him perform many times at The Stables.
So sad.
RIP.

BlueBelle Sun 17-Mar-24 17:27:09

No sorry folks had a look and a listen, not familiar with it I guess I wasn’t into glam rock and 1975 when it appears it came out I was trying to get three little children out of an abusive marriage so probably not noticing it

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 17-Mar-24 17:30:28

I understand that BlueBelle. Many years of my life were lost in an abusive marriage and I only became acquainted with the song much later, after I became free again.

BlueBelle Sun 17-Mar-24 17:42:01

GSM 👍🏼

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 17-Mar-24 17:46:03

👍🏻 BlueBelle.
