Just wondering??
Why are colleagues who contribute less, missed more than colleagues that contribute more??

Mel1967 - do you have experience of this?
Maybe those who contribute less spend more time socialising and getting to know colleagues through general banter etc instead of working and applying themselves to the tasks in hand? So many people seem to love bantering and gossip. Those who get their heads down efficiently and work in a diligent manner don't have time for idle chatter or just honestly prefer to stay away from it, - but they don't add interest to the gossip-train, so aren't always missed in the same way!!

Many thanks for your reply.
Yes I do have experience of this.
A couple of examples that spring to mind:
A colleague that has been off work for a while has received several gifts, flowers etc from the rest of us in the team.
When I was off for a similar length of time I received nothing.
Also not being invited to work do’s.
Hope this makes sense

I m afraid this always seems to happen there are always cliques and differences Someone can keep their head down and work hard, someone can mess around and not contribute half as much but be revered more
Often happens unfortunately

I am about to organise a card for someone's 50th - but when I was 60 no-one bothered. Hey ho - they didn't give flying monkeys about my birthday!
I have good relationships with everyone. I just don't think they thought I'd care - and no-one shared the information with others - and I don't care really.
have a relative who has about 150 birthday cards every year and yet she does not support other people - but she's made it clear she expects a really nice card every year and as she kind of 'demands' it , it happens.

It's the way it is. Cliques and friendships form. A good team manager should be aware of this and ensure everyone gets recognition when deserved. I have to say when I was working this did not happen, everyone on the section got s card in their birthday.
