I LOVE penguins. So cute and I can remember having a toy one when I was a child. Sadly I do not know what happened to it. Might buy myself another one.
I love penguins and also alpacas with their friendly humming. I have a penguin quilted coffee pot cover which always cheers me up. And alpaca socks which do the same. Beight red and cosy.
Many many years ago mid 1970s the Bird Garden in Rode Somerset had a humbolt penguin called Usher - he had an Ushers beer barrel as a den. He would rush over to visitors his arms outstretched for a cuddle if he liked the look of you.
Dh and I swam with little Jackass penguins (they make a noise like a donkey!) in S Africa. A lovely experience, but OMG the water was 🥶! Straight up. from the Antarctic. Just as well it was nice and warm in the sun afterwards!
We get the little fairy penguins coming in from the sea at night near our holiday house. Magic. We have kept it a secret until recently but now a lot have found out. Blast.
We get the little fairy penguins coming in from the sea at night near our holiday house. Ooh nanna8 I can just imagine them all - clutching their little wands , flying about in a flurry of sparkle- do they grant wishes?
Nanna8, very sweet! I was watching a documentary about these in New Zealand, and how they are threatened in some spots because of introduced predator species.
Mr Popper's Penguins was one of my favourite books as a child. I should find it at the library for a re-read.
I remember seeing those little penguins at a centre in New Zealand. They looked almost blue. Yes, I think they get hunted and destroyed by cats and dogs, poor things.
