Public notices with too many words!
Eg:
Please be aware that these toilets are cleaned by a male operative.
Please be aware that wet floors are slippery.
For goodness sake!
Men clean these toilets.
Take care not to slip on wet floor.
Who thinks up these things?

My GD, 8, (a pedant in the making) pointed to one the other day - written on the tarmac in a parking space outside a port authority building, something like:
"Reserved parking for authorised Xtown port authority staff on official business only"

Backs are covered, the public was informed, responsibility has been abrogated - I am reminded of the story of the Scottish minister who preached on sin, the torments of hell and how the unrighteous in their agonies would claim ignorance of the consequences of their sinfulness:
"Oh Lord, we didnae ken, we didnae ken" (=know) they would wail.
He continued:
"And the Lord in his infinite mercy will say (pause) " Well ye ken noo "
