I have suffered from this all my adult life. I am now on three hypertensive. I followed the medical advice, eat healthily, exercise - I swim 4 times a week, don’t smoke and have given up alcohol. I have also lost six stone in the past 14 months.

Still it remains too high according the the doctors at approximately 150/80. I am at a loss what to do next? Any advice? I have a family history of strokes and heart attacks.

Nothing much more to be done. It's how you're made. I sympathise.
My reading is often a lot higher than yours.

150/80 is acceptable. Well done on losing so much weight.

Me too! Mine has been known to be 220/110 but only because of anxiety at having it taken.

That's the problem, if you are on the higher side you get anxious before they start, then after 3 goes it's sky high and they get worried. Vicious circle.

From my 40s I did gym work outs Mon-Fri straight from work. Windsurfed and sailed. I led an active life, healthy eating very little alcohol not overweight but had high blood pressure.
All the exercise I have done made no difference to my high blood pressure. I would be quite happy at 150/80,

I developed HBP when I went on the pill age 21 was put on low pill but the symptoms were just as bad. I spent my first pregnancy at 31 in hospital because of preeclampsia and extreme hyperemesis gravidarium constant sickness.

I was first prescribed medication when I was 35 been on it since. I have healthy diet have always been active I did smoke very little when young stupidly because of peer pressure. After lots of tests over time I was told it’s hereditary as is the high cholesterol.

It’s the decision of your health care professionals whether you need to be on medication. It sounds as if you have white coat syndrome so your blood pressure raises as soon as you see the doctor. Take the advice they offer as it is well meant and worth a try to prevent further health problems.

Dr Hilary Jones took his BP live on Lorraine this morning, having just advised that an ideal reading is 110/70 and advising what to do to keep it down. His reading was 183/111 so he took it again and it was 187/114! I think he was shocked.

Wish I had seen that. 🤣

Primrose. I am very uncharitable. I couldn't help but smile, not that I wish him any harm.

I don’t think that’s too high. When mine is being monitored my GP is happy when the bottom figure is less than 90.
I’d say you’re doing well.

My B/P never went back to normal after having babies so I have had medication since then and done all the things. I am supposed apart from giving up wine. Sallywally1 how about yoga or relaxation exercises or CBD all of of which are reputed to have some beneficial effects on B/P?
