Think it depends if your looking for Nhs prescription or private. They all do the same thing just with diff services. I go online time to time only because my gp is useless so just easier having zoom calls online

We used to use Pharmacy2U, but had no end of problems and delays with them. Our surgery recommended Ask chemist, and they`re brilliant, but only local to us in Boston, I`m afraid.

You seem to be a new poster, Jhony.

I use Pharmacy2U and they're brilliant. You order online and they get in touch with your GP and the prescription arrives in a week or less. All very stress-free!

As does my husband. He receives his tablets efficiently, no wasted time.

I use The Family Chemist online pharmacy. Similar to the others fill in a short consultation and delivery was next day. I have also used other o/p but the service was better here as they check up on me for my stop smoking to see how In getting on as I opted for that service which I felt was more personal like a GP.

I was fed up with queuing at the local pharmacy only to be told that they hadn't 'made up my presription yet'. I decided to have my prescriptions sent from an online pharmacy and have had excellent service. They arrive punctually by post.

I have long used special dispensing pharmacies for my ostomy supplies. These are very bulky and therefore difficult to collect from normal high street pharmacies. These are specialist companies which supply these, when requested they fax through the prescription to receive an new one, which they then dispense and deliver direct to front door. Also supply complimentary wipes and disposal bags (which the high street pharmacies never offer). These companies usually also employ a specialist ostomy nurse to whom we can speak with any specific questions. They will also deliver an emergency pack (without prescription) to anywhere in UK. So, for example, if I became unwell whilst visiting one of my children meaning I had to stay there longer than planned, I could phone the company up and they would deliver supplies to me at that address, then sorting out getting the prescription for them. An excellent service.

You don't have to pay online pharmacies to dispense an NHS prescription.
My GP sends the prescription to Lloyds Direct and I tick the boxes saying I am exempt from charges and that I want it posted. Postage is free too.
The company charges the NHS just as any pharmacy would.

I have used Pharmacy 2U for a few years. I just order every 6 weeks or so, online to the doctor's surgery, it is approved there and passed on to Pharmacy 2U. The postman brings it a few days later. There is no charge and there has never been a problem. P2U sent an email about the postal strike, saying something about medication being a priority with the postal service.

Thank you everyone - all comments are helpful. He's tried our local 'Big Boots' - awful, Tesco ditto but at least the staff appear human, and Hay Pharmacy - wrong stuff in packet with 'right' list ??

I stopped using Pharmacy2u because they constantly had delays on my medication. Our surgery won't allow us to order early as they refuse to issue the prescription. I was forever trying to find a local pharmacy with enough Morphine in stock to tide me over till my medication arrived from Pharmacy2u . I eventually swapped to Lloyds pharmacy who have never let me down. They came up with various excuses which were lame and if there really was an issue everywhere I wouldn't have been able to get them elsewhere. What's the point of phone chat if they can't supply your medication on time.

Pharmacy2U are great. I have used them for some time and highly recommend them. Efficient and you can have a phone chat if needed.

I also use Lloyds Direct, with no problems. They are very good at keeping you up to date. Also, in my case, when I ordered some extra because I was going to be away for a few weeks, they contacted my GP to make sure that was ok and kept me in the loop right up till they came. Brilliant service. Just got to get him indoors to do the same now - he prefers putting a note into the GP surgery and then trotting off to Sainsburys to pick up his meds. He's stuck in a bit of a time warp!

I have used Pharmacy2 for over two years. They are very professional and reliable.
Just order online and they come through the post. They keep me informed of any upcoming strikes happening and give advice on when to re-order.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 08-Sep-22 16:13:42

The pharmacy at our surgery is taking up to ten working days to dispense repeat prescriptions at present - various different excuses - so I reorder as soon as I’ve collected one. I wouldn’t want to rely on medication arriving by post - not only because of the current strikes but because things can get lost.

Blondiescot Thu 08-Sep-22 15:13:18

I did - but my husband didn't already have a prescription. I've no idea how it works if you do (we don't normally pay for prescriptions here in Scotland).

Do you have to pay for online pharmacies ?

Blondiescot Thu 08-Sep-22 15:08:26

I used UK Meds earlier this year after my OH hurt his back. He couldn't get an appointment at our own doctor's surgery (they're still not seeing patients face to face unless it's an emergency) and had run out of the tablets he usually has (he has back problems from time to time after a car ran into the back of his years ago), so knew exactly what he needed. I went online, filled in a short questionnaire and the tablets arrived in the post a couple of days later.

Pittcity Thu 08-Sep-22 14:57:50

I use Lloyds Direct. Mine is a simple monthly prescription. I order via the app and the tablets are delivered by the postie a couple of days later. I've had no problems. They remind you when you need more and keep you up to date with delivery etc.
If there's any problem you can also pick up from your nearest Lloyd's branch.

sandelf Thu 08-Sep-22 14:05:47

Have you tried any online pharmacies? Recommendations or brickbats? OH is having a devil of a job getting his regular prescriptions filled locally, despite it all being done digitally.
