Just got my invite to book, how do people feel? Is it necessary?
I had the virus before Christmas for the first time after flying abroad. I can’t make up my mind.

My husband has booked his for next week. I'm not eligible yet but I will take it when offered.

I,m not sure these 'boosters 'ARE necessary. The flu vaccine is annual so why should covid be any different? I had my appointment booked for me by the nhs. It's at the beginning of June. I will have it but hope it's the last spring booster.

I don’t think I have ever had the virus but I will take advantage of every booster offered. It can’t do any harm and will hopefully do some good.

I am immunosuppressed. Luckily never had Covid, will take vaccine when offered.

I ve been invited and will take it I ve had a multitude of things this winter which has necessitated antibiotics and I think my immune system may be lower than I would like so will take advantage of the offer I think we may find it’s incorporated in the autumn/winter flu jab in future

I have an appointment for my 9th vaccination on April 27th. I am immunosuppressed so take every precaution offered. Fortunately I have avoided catching Covid so far and am still careful.

DamaskRose Mon 15-Apr-24 17:33:34

I had long covid for four months so yes, I will be having it.

Kate1949 Mon 15-Apr-24 17:35:10

The online booking is now open if anyone is interested.

Just booked my NHS covid jab appt at the local pharmacy for next week.
Unfortunately they are not offering private ones and is hubby is a few months short of being eligible we have been trying to find somewhere reasonably close for him to go,it’s not proving easy.
If only the NHS had the foresight to offer the vaccination to those like him who live with someone like me who is immunocompromised life would be simpler.
Grateful though to get the booster.

kittylester Mon 15-Apr-24 17:36:01

I take anything and everything on offer.

Lovetopaint037 Mon 15-Apr-24 17:39:46

I’m 82 nearly 83 and dh is 84 but we haven’t been invited. Had all the others.

Grandmabatty Mon 15-Apr-24 17:57:00

I will take mine when I get the invitation. It won't stop me getting covid but it might stop it being bad.

Kate1949 Mon 15-Apr-24 18:02:28

My husband wasn't invited. You can book it yourself. The website opened today. He is going to a local pharmacy.

Marydoll Mon 15-Apr-24 18:21:14

I have had my appointment letter and will be having it as I am severely immunocompromised.

Charleygirl5 Mon 15-Apr-24 18:43:19

tanith please have it as it cannot do you any harm. They are now concentrating on the over 75 year olds, I suppose money is thin on the ground.

I have not received my letter, did not know it was being offered so I will be there.

BlueBelle Mon 15-Apr-24 18:46:01

I think it’s worth having I ve had Covid twice and neither was worse than a cold but would they have been had I not been vaccinated? Who knows?

Shelflife Mon 15-Apr-24 18:51:01

Fortunately my DH and I have not had Covid and we will do whatever we can to keep it that way! So yes IMO it is most definitely necessary, why on earth would you not have it? I think about it as a privilege and one we have every intention of taking advantage of.

tanith Mon 15-Apr-24 18:54:38

It’s to get different views but I’ve now decided to book it. Thanks all.

cornergran Mon 15-Apr-24 19:38:33

Same here. Ours are booked for next week.

keepingquiet Mon 15-Apr-24 19:42:35

I had an e-mail today telling me to book mine- but the link said I had to come back and book on the day I wanted it!
Clearly not ready yet, but I'll get it eventually.

Whiff Mon 15-Apr-24 19:51:07

If they send for me I will have it. Had all jabs and Covid lucky because of the jabs it was like having a bad cold.

lemsip Mon 15-Apr-24 20:34:44

I have booked mine online for monday 3.30pm

M0nica Mon 15-Apr-24 20:42:32

I will be down at my local drop in vaccination centre at the first available opportunity.

After looking all through the charts I found out that the NHS think that because I had Radiotherapy after having cancer in
January this year I'm classed as immunosuppressed - I must say
I don't know why?
