I saw the film today and it was full of energy and good fun. A bit dark in places, well it is a Roald Dahl story, but DGDs really enjoyed and got the message. The scale of the choreography was brilliant and the singing excellent.

Or perhaps it was pre-Covid!!

Mine might be too old now, I'll see what they think.

We went to see Last Christmas with Emma Thmpson last Christmas.

Oops, yes 25th. We'll have to report back our findings, or better still those of the children.

Its only out tomorrow...I'm taking 2 of my DGDs aged 6 and 4 .....they've seen the film with Pam Ferris and loved it....not quite sure what they'll make of this one as its a musical....but they've seen Annie and enjoyed...so likely they will like this too ....I'm looking forward to it myself ....I love Stephen Graham in everything he does

Gc's parents

I read the book and watched the movie

The cruelty of the parents towards Matilda was a trigger for me

What do your gc's think about it?

I think Tim Minchin in interview said Nov 25 in cinema and Dec 25 on TV.
My 6yo DGD saw Matilda The Musical on stage and loved it; she might even have been 5 when she saw it.

Without having seen the film yet I'm not sure how scary it might be, but I would say from age 7 up. The book by Roald Dahl is on the Key Stage 2 reading list at school 7 - 11 years, but of course the cinema obviously makes the nasty bits a bit more graphic. My DGDs are 10 and 8.

I wondered about taking GDs to this film. What age group would you say it’s for?

I can’t wait to see it, looks really good x

Has anyone been to see the latest film with Emma Thompson please? I've got a spare Saturday with DH being away and wondered whether to take DGDs. The stage show was excellent, so I was just wondering about the movie.
