We have booked a short stay in Lowestoft and fancy breaking the journey with an overnight stay somewhere part way. Just wondered if you have any suggestions for where to stay/visit and also any nice Bed & Breakfast (we have booked our Lowestoft accommodation). Thanks in anticipation of a few ideas.

Huntington is a nice town. We usually break our journey to East Anglia there. Don't know about b&b though, sorry, we stay in the Premier Inn.

Thank you ILC.

Thinking again, we once stayed in Market Harborough on the way back, that was a nice town as well.

Stamford is a beautiful market town with lovely shops and restaurants. Has a few decent hotels but expect it also has b&b accommodation.
Just off the A1

Thank you Cheese, Rosie and Primrose.

I was going to suggest Stamford too but Oakham is also very attractive. Again, just off the A1.

Horncastle in Lincs has a nice hotel called Admiral Romney (or Rodney?!). More at the top end of Lincs (?), Louth has a great market and is a nice town anyway, some lovely shops.
Markets too, Horncastle (Thurs and Sats, Farmers version 2nd Thurs), Louth = Weds, Fris, Sats, Farmers version 2nd Friday, 4th Weds). Take a cool box?!

Beware that crossing Norfolk takes a while, one of very few counties with no motorway, and the road from Peterborough to Norwich gets busy and seems endless?!

20 mins from A1, Lincoln has a beautiful cathedral quarter.

This is no help whatsoever but just wanted to granny boast that GS1 (then12) cycled with a group from his school plus some teachers and Dads (its a boys school) from Hull to Lowestoft last summer in the worst of the heatwave!

god this is so funny. I hadn't seen the date! Where did you stop in the end?

Kateykrunch Thu 26-Oct-23 22:35:49

Hi Jane, we didnt, we travelled to Hunstanton for a week in a caravan, came home for a few weeks then travelled to Corton, Nr Lowestoft staying in what was described as a Villa, it wasn’t lol.

JaneJudge Fri 27-Oct-23 12:36:59

Oh we’ve stayed in Corton before it’s where they do the bowls championship?

You are thinking of Hopton in Norfolk JaneJudge Potters Holiday camp.
