I have recently been plagued by scam calls/ messages on my mobile purporting to be from my Bank and alerting me to 'suspicious' activity on my account. This morning I was wakened by one such call at exactly 8.00, which was most annoying. There was a very long number for me to call urgently, which I ignored and contacted my Bank directly.
So... I went through the rigmarole of passwords and security, typed answers to a robot was getting nowhere when a notification popped up. It said that there is a new way of contacting all of the major banks re fraud or suspicious activity. You simply phone 159, then you press a number to be directed to your own Bank and a real, live, person speaks to you immediately, checks your account and confirms that there is no problem and the Bank has not called you. Or, I presume, if there is a problem you are able to sort it right away.
I thought it was wonderful that there is now such a service and that I should pass on the information to GNs
