Does he (or she) exist?
In what way does he impact people's lives?

timetogo2016 Mon 18-Apr-22 15:31:53

I don`t think there is an actual devil MissA,i think we all have the devil in us at times especially when someone annoys us and we loose it.
I think it`s a natural feeling/emotion.

MissAdventure Mon 18-Apr-22 15:34:33

People are certainly capable of evil deeds, that's true.

I have been quite the ‘devil’ ? in my time. My children will testify to that, but I have calmed down now.

timetogo2016 Mon 18-Apr-22 15:38:55

I have just remembered MissA, when i was young my brother was a right pain, and i remember my parents saying that he`s got the devil in him today the little so and so.
Just sharing.

Oh yes, "the devil in him".
I can remember that saying, too.

In my opinion there's no devil, just as there's no god.

Ilovecheese Mon 18-Apr-22 15:47:37

They say he has all the best tunes.

MissAdventure Mon 18-Apr-22 15:48:34

I'll probably forget my hearing aids!

Polly73 Mon 18-Apr-22 16:56:28

My ex was ‘devilish’ handsome…..which was probably the cause of our downfall as everyone else thought so too - and he wasn’t one to resist!

Agree

I believe in God, but not The Devil, but I do believe in evil and its power.

snowberryZ Mon 18-Apr-22 17:29:25

I watched We Need to talk about Kevin on Netflix recently.
I know it's only fiction but that boy was truly evil in my opinion.
I know a mother's love is supposed to be unconditional but I could never forgive my child for doing that to a sibling.

I didn't think you could have one without the other...

MissAdventure Mon 18-Apr-22 17:32:22

Wasn't Lucifer cast out of heaven?

Hetty58 Mon 18-Apr-22 17:34:42

Blondiescot, same here - I thought they went together - but I don't believe in either. To me, they're mythical beings, like dragons and unicorns.

NanKate Mon 18-Apr-22 17:37:45

The nearest I know to the Devil is Putin!

ginny Mon 18-Apr-22 17:53:48

No I don’t believe The Devil exists any more than God exists.
There is good , bad and much in between . Most of us have some of each in our nature.

Fennel Mon 18-Apr-22 18:16:06

What it means to me is the choice I have to do the right thing or not. I usually know which is the right thing.
but can I make the decisision ?

Smileless2012 Mon 18-Apr-22 18:19:49

Yes he was MissA.

MissAdventure Mon 18-Apr-22 18:21:39

He was the brightest star, and God's favourite, from my very limited knowledge.

Smileless2012 Mon 18-Apr-22 18:31:44

Yes that's right and as God had already given him earth as a sign of his love for him, when he fell from grace, he took earth with him.

John 12 v 31 "Now is the time for judgement on this world, now the prince of this world will be driven out". The prince being referred too is Lucifer/Satan.

Absolutely, Hetty58!

MissAdventure Mon 18-Apr-22 19:04:48

So, smileless, do you think the earth is in the hands of Lucifer?

Completely tangental to the thread, but if you read the book you might doubt whether Kevin was responsible for a lot of what he was blamed for. I enjoyed the film, but thought it lost a lot of the ambiguity of the book, which was much more about nature/nurture than the film got across.
