We're going to be speaking at some events over the next few weeks, and we'd like to find out what you think about some different topics.

All who complete the survey will be entered into a prize draw where one GNer or MNer will win a £100 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Click here to complete the survey.

Thanks and good luck!

Well I filled most of it till I realised there lots of financial questions about income etc so sorry it’s not for me. Why do you need such personal info?

Nico97 Fri 16-Aug-19 13:44:46

That's saved me looking tanith grin

MiniMoon Fri 16-Aug-19 13:56:29

I won't be doing it either then. I don't give out financial information to anyone.

Maggiemaybe Fri 16-Aug-19 14:01:10

There's only one question about income and one about occupation, isn't there? Unless I've missed a chunk of the survey (very possible)!

JustineBGransnet (GNHQ) Fri 16-Aug-19 14:02:26

Hi all - the income question at the end isn't compulsory - it's useful for us but if you'd really prefer not to let us know then you can select 'prefer not to say'.

@tanith could you let us know which other questions you feel are about income? We're happy to take feedback if you feel like we should make any changes.

Liz46 Fri 16-Aug-19 15:01:11

I've completed it. My husband and I have separate finances, each paying for our own holidays etc. so I don't know how much he gets. He would tell me if I was interested but I am not, so I selected 'prefer not to say'. No problem.

tanith Fri 16-Aug-19 16:01:44

I’ll have another look thanks for the feedback maybe I quit too soon if I can decline to answer certain questions I’ll complete it.

tanith Fri 16-Aug-19 16:14:47

I have completed the survey now apologies for jumping the gun.

Squiffy Fri 16-Aug-19 17:00:45

Hi Justine I've just completed the survey, but when I pressed Complete it flagged up Questions 20 and 21 had to be answered! They relate to occupation of main earner and annual income. I consider those to be 'out of bounds' as far as I'm concerned!

I've just wasted time trying to be helpful by doing the survey, but then not being able to complete it!!

Squiffy Fri 16-Aug-19 17:02:38

Oops, sorry, I've just seen that you can 'prefer not to say' about income, but you still have to complete the Question 20!

I am not bothered by the sociodemographic data. I have worked in Market Research so understand why it is there. I never fill in the section asking for help or any identification features, so I know my entry is entirely anonymous.

I also know that the descriptions and classifications are based on standard definitions but I am getting increasingly irritated by the way they are defined entirely in terms of being an employee in a company. None of the upper definitions make any allowance for the self-employed, especially the highly skilled professionals, for example barristers, or as in DH's case Chartered Engineers with specialist skills, who work as consultants on major projects.

More and more people fall into this bracket of highly skilled, very well paid, experts, who have no interest in climbing the corporate ladder, instead make careers based on their highly tecnical skills

Completed.

I've done it, but some of the questions didn't allow an accurate answer. For example; in the question about what type of work you do, there was no answer to indicate that you are self-employed and/or a business owner!

Completed and interested in being involved in media survey. Pity I couldn't give a more accurate answer about the type of work I do even though I retired 10 years ago.

Nannan2 Mon 26-Aug-19 11:54:45

I presume they ask so they can bombard you later with lots of 'offers' they think you can afford? But surely they could assume a survey on gransnet, people are (mostly) retired,SO ON RETIREMENT PENSION,so why ask??!

Nannan2 Mon 26-Aug-19 11:58:25

Apparently id already done it! hmmi wonder what i put to question 20?lol.(what was Q.20?hmmgrin
