Not at all. Who am I to decide who others want to be, and how they want to live.

Not at all. Who am I to decide who others want to be, and how they want to live.

But gender reassignment is a protected characteristic, which allows people to be who they want to be. Why would you want women (or men) to lose their biological sex based protected characteristic?

M0nica Wed 02-Nov-22 19:10:43

It is not a petition to stop anyone being anything they like Fleurpepper. It is saying that when we speak of sex we should mean biological sex. That is settled at conception and no matter what else you may do to transition, that is immutable and unchangeable. It affects your responses to illness, the type of illnesses you are more prone to.

It has got absolutely nothing to do with gender or transitioning.

Fleurpepper Wed 02-Nov-22 20:06:43

Transgender people know exactly what sex they were born, and therefore how to respond to illness, and what type they are more likely to be prone to?
Just don't get it.

kircubbin2000 Wed 02-Nov-22 20:38:34

If sex is recorded incorrectly it will impact statistics in the future. No need to lie about it.

M0nica Wed 02-Nov-22 21:23:27

The transgender people may kow but what about the medical staff in an emergency, or a specialist reading the casenotes.

Will they always say what their sex, as distinct to their gender is when asked?

A situation where a baby died, in part because a female person was designated 'male' in her medical notes.

No chance.

Rosie51 Wed 02-Nov-22 23:20:12

Signed. I do wonder why anybody who agrees with all the other protected characteristics in the EA wouldn't think the 'sex' characteristic should be defined according to sex. Gender is a protected category. Are they frightened if sex is properly defined and protected as in biology, women might actually retain some protections?

Exactly.

Stop preaching for heavens sake. The OP asked people to sign. Fleurpepper said she would not be signing and told you why. It is not your job to persuade her.

Had it been a discussion OP then I imagine Fleurpepper would not have posted. I know I would not have done, but it isn't. Please go and peddle your opinions where they are asked for.

Exactly that Rosie51.
By not signing, they make it quite clear that for them, male supremacy still rules, even if he’s wearing a dress!

Rosie51 Wed 02-Nov-22 23:44:46

Preaching? If you say so. I wasn't but I think most preachers would consider my post a pathetic attempt 🤣🤣 I do hope you never express an opinion unless it's asked for, wouldn't want to cast you as a total hypocrite. And to think I've read threads where I've felt you should be supported, even if I've disagreed..... learned my lesson grin

Rosie51 Wed 02-Nov-22 23:46:16

Meant to quote DaisyAnne in my last post.

Thanks Mollygo sometimes they almost make you doubt yourself!
