Hi, Can you really do this if your from UK.?

Greatnan Tue 17-Jul-12 07:59:02

I renewed mine at 70 but it is valid for three years. When I get to 73, I will exchange it for a French license, which does not have an age limit!

applying for my UK driving license 73 years old next birthday

Hi,

I renewed my license at 70. Can anyone tell me, when Ive held my photo card license for three years at 73. Will i need go through the same procedure of counter signature on back of photo, and must counter signature person, fill in a section on form when i re-apply at 73.I have a up to date Passport. Please guide me on this Procedure.?

Because Ive been told, as long as i give my passport Number on Form, that i don't need to change license Photo, so no need for counter signatures or form filling by a counter signature person.
please can yo guide me on the procedure i will have to go through at 73.?

Thanking you all in anticipation Rob

Greatnan is no longer a member of Gransnet, but someone else may be able to answer your question, Robbie.

If you allow them access to your passport photos they will use that photo and you can renew on line as long as it is still to the same UK address as you have on the current licence. I think you need to give them your passport number on the renewal form.

No you don't need the photo counter signed if you can give a valid passport number.
I had to swap my old style pink paper license in October for a photo card one when I informed the DVLA that I was diagnosed diabetic.

Hi Welsh-wife,

Thank you so much for your Reply.

Can you please tell me the following about the Renewal Form Filling Online when I'm 73 next Birthday.?

1/The EYESIGHT SECTION. Do i Tick both Yes Boxes, as i Wear Glasses for Distance, i find this section a little nonsensical.?

2/Will i after filling in the Application Form, Need to Print a Completed Copy and send to DVLA.?

3/ Do i also send my Present photo-Card Driving License to the DVLA.?

Thanking You in Anticipation.

ROBBY If you go to the top of this page and click on 'Last Day' it will take you to a list of subjects discussed in the last 24 hours

Run your eye down the list until you reach the subject called DVLA renewing license when over 70. The next subject listed below it should be your thread; two questions. The order could have changed slightly since I wrote the original post.

If you go to the post office, they will help and pre-check your form for a small(ish) fee.

Hi All,
I want to apply Online for Renewal of my license for 70, or over Via Gateway. Little confused, as to whether after Ive completed the form. Do i have to Print it Out, and Send to DVLA with my Present License. Or do they automatically receive like a email.?

Lastly how do i send my Present license back to DVLA, if i don't need to Print Completed Application.?

Thanking You All in Anticipation.
