I’m making a ginger cake. Recipe calls for 1kg loaf tin but my tins are 1lb. Can anyone help with adjusting cooking times please?

How about halving the time, and then just keep checking, pressing the top and seeing if it comes away from the sides?

Good luck!

If the recipe makes enough for 1kg tin you’ll have to use 2 of your 1lb tins, or make a half quantity. They will cook quicker but not in half the time, give them a check at about 2/3 of the time.

Just keep an eye on your ginger cake, use a skewer to test if it's cooked through. Leave it in oven if skewer is wet with mixture, if it comes out clean it's cooked !

Check a recipe for a 1 lb version of a similarly dense cake.
