Iv'e never took much notice, but tonight whilst my elder dd was here for tea we were looking at the label on some salad dressing.

My dd remarked , do you know what the "e " means?

No idea no.

Apparantly it is the "estimated weight of a product"

ie. meat, dressing, blocks of cheese etc.

My dd said they were looking at packaging at work last week and her friend had bought block of cheese which was said say "weight 800gms" but at the side said "e" estimated weight 750gms.

I had a quick look through a few things and yes! there is was the letter "e" . So you are not actualy always getting the amount that it says on the packet. Never knew that!
