The Malory Towers books .. having a jolly super wizard time reading them. My granddaughters laugh their heads off at my efforts at recreating the slang of those times .. and that class!

We're going on a bear hunt is a great one as you get them into making the noises as you splash through water and mud , then speed it up as you dash back home!

A great favourite is Nanette the Hungry Pelican, an old book that I had when I was a child, but it's rhyming story is clever and interesting with humour that children seem to really enjoy because it is sometimes a little cheeky...

My GC are older now but all loved Room on the Broom, also all rhyming books

Little Rabbit Foo Foo. The title alone makes it a winner !
All my Early Years classes I read it to always loved it. It is so nice to read out loud in a sing-song voice!

Thomas the Tank Engine, which I read myself as a five year old in the fifties. Lovely to be able to pass them on.

I love reading Going on a Bear Hunt as they love saying the rhymes "we can't go over it..." and we have bear hunts in the garden

My lovely Granddaughter is 13 now so I don't read to her any more, but when she was little she loved Hairy McClary from Donaldson's Dairy. Such a funny little book, such fun to read and she loved it.

I love to read "Guess how much I love you" - and I love it when they add their own bit 'to asda, the sea and the moon and back" lovely memories

“Who’s in the loo”. It appeals to children’s scatalogical humour!

All my grandchildren have adored The Faraway Tree and The Magic Wishing Chair by Enid Blyton, the now vilified children's author! All her books were so enjoyed by my grandchildren but these two were demanded again and again.

The twins love Bing Bunny stories and they honestly love Thomas , all the different engines!

Cazzy28 Mon 11-May-20 19:35:16

I want a cat by Tony Ross
I read it to my children 30+ years ago and now my grandchildren love it!

volcanopete Mon 11-May-20 19:39:14

The BFG by Roald Dahl because it reminds me when our own children were little.

live7 Mon 11-May-20 19:39:51

Kippers bear. We read it to our 3 children and still have the battered well read copy. My husband and I almost know it off by heart and love how it rhymes, the illustrations and how you can put expression in the telling of it.

katieraven1990 Mon 11-May-20 19:42:02

I love reading Thomas as it is a childhood classic

Angelwings Mon 11-May-20 19:42:04

I love to read ‘The hungry caterpillar’ to my granddaughter because she loves all creatures and it has such a nice story to it

helenclare Mon 11-May-20 19:53:48

Chicken Lickin as it was a favourite of our sons, so now their children are reading it along with us as we speak. It also always makes us laugh, can't wait to get reading to them all again.
