Is there a glossary of terms anywhere on this site?

I'm getting increasingly confused about what the initials stand for.....most recently noticed AC (actual child maybe?) and AH.

I simply can't work it out...................

TFLTR please?

Grammaretto Fri 24-Nov-23 00:42:16

AC is adult child
Can't guess AH 😊
DS can be dear son or dear sister. This confuses me so I write Dsis

SuperTinny Fri 24-Nov-23 00:43:15

OH please?

Oopsadaisy1 Fri 24-Nov-23 00:43:22

AC = Adult children

There is a list at the top of the page, Active , I’m on etc. click on Acronyms.

Oopsadaisy1 Fri 24-Nov-23 00:43:47

OH, other half

Grammaretto Fri 24-Nov-23 01:03:16

Oops it's not on mine. I use my phone and can't see acronyms.

I'm glad I'm not the only one SuperTinny. Sometimes the acronym isn't there and takes me some time to work out what the poster means.

There’s a list of acronyms at the top of the page - but only on the desktop version, not on mobile.

I don't use many on the list but I do use IMHO, In My Humble Opinion, a common internet abbreviation, when I want to be clear that I'm not stating A Truth, just what I think.

I've also used OVMV, Others' Views May Vary, which I thought was what the Queen said about Prince Harry's book. I've just googled it, and it's not what she said and it doesn't exist as an acronym, so I'll withdraw it!

These are not acronyms but abbreviations. I find them irritating as do many others SuperTinny

IHT as the title of the thread recently, which stood for Inheritance Tax.
I have googled these abbreviations and they usually refer to names of businesses, so no help at all. It doesn't take long to write two or three words at least once in a post.

I think once you’re used to GN most posts are easy to read and understand. Recently a thread was started about neighbours (written in full) but further down a poster used NDN - next door neighbour, which became clear because of the content. I agree
SinL can be misleading, but if a poster has referred to a brother and his wife, then the SinL in question is obvious?
I don’t mind the abbreviations at all and if I’m really interested in a particular thread, I’ll read it.

Sorry, posted too early. The second link is a similar conversation where you may find some advice. For some reason it was in "Arts and Crafts" so it took a while to find.

Grammaretto Fri 24-Nov-23 16:41:04

They are rather limited and no initials for brother or sister, only in-laws.
Did we discover what AH stands for?
Amusing husband?
At home?
