I have been doing this for a month and apart from easily losing half a stone my heartburn has gone!!
No more damn gaviscon ,no pain at all,not even at night. How I wish I had tried this years ago

* [Thread title changed by GNHQ - it originally said 'intermittent dieting']

Me too, been doing Michael Mosley's plan for 5 weeks. Lost 5kgs and no acid reflex at all. It must be working.

I follow an intermittent eating way of life.
My weight is steady, the lowest in years and that makes me feel good and I'm well pleased with my energy levels.

Because of the hours I work I do a 14/10 plan..
My eating window is from 12 midday until 10 pm, and I do this every day..

I lost 2 stone about 10 years ago on this regime and haven't put it back on. I am now on maintenance and nw do it 1 day a week.

I rarely eat between 7pm and 8am, but that is just my life long natural eating rhythm.

I think you mean intermittent fasting
Not eating for long stretches apparently gives your pancreas a “rest” and reduces the risk of type 2 Diabetes.
I didn’t realise it worked on reflux too.
(I’ve been doing “intermittent dieting “all my life which is exactly what you shouldn’t do! )

I feel so much better if I fast but don’t really stick to a particular time scale. I felt peckish tonight and had some bread and butter so will try to go as long as possible before eating or drinking ( except water) tomorrow. It also makes me drink more water! I always have a piece of tea bread to break my fast because if I know I don’t have to prepare anything I keep myself going for a bit longer. Although I don’t think tea bread is very good for blood sugar levels!

I'm doing 12:8, start at 10am and finish at 6pm. Various black T2 teas outside those hours and lots of water.

I don`t eat after 4.30 pm and have breakfast at 6.30 am. It is my natural way and I don`t feel hungry between those times, been doing this for a few years. I am completely in my own circadian rhythm, can do this being on my own, not needing to cater for anyone else

Main meal is around 11.30 to 12 and just light something or other at 4.

I knew we from up North got it right, dinner is midday. Light tea later. Yay.

I've just started doing the 5.2 diet again. It worked well last time. And I'll do the limited hours as well. I feel quite porky lately and it's not good.

Yes it should have been intermittent fasting as I too have been intermittent dieting for years!
I am amazed that I am losing weight yet not feeling deprived or hungry. It won't suit everyone but living on my own it really has been so easy.
I walk the dog first thing{10ish{ for a couple of hours then come home to breakfast and by 6 I have to remind myself to eat before 7. I am not starving at all.
Without thinking about it too much I am eating much better and the dreaded gaviscon has been binned.

We do a 16/8, MrJ never puts an ounce on or off anyway, but after losing ten pounds, it’s kept my weight, which is fine for my height, stable for over five years. I still have prescribed medication for reflux, hiatus hernia diagnosed four years ago by endoscopy.

JamesandJon33 Thu 01-Feb-24 19:22:01

I have stuck to 16:8 fasting for the past seven years. I was diagnosed T2 diabetic. Lost 3 stone, reversed my diagnoses and have never looked back. At the moment I see my GP once a year just to keep track. Also as others have said no acid reflux .

18:6 for over a year, 2 meals a day. Don't ever weigh ourselves but waist has gone down from 31 to 27.

The very best part of 2 meals a day - the kitchen is cleaned and closed by 4pm and not used again until late morning next day (apart from black coffee maybe). Only 2 meals to plan for and cook each day. We don't even think about food anymore outside our eating hours.

spot on Freya

We used to run home from school at dinner time, for a cooked meal then teatime was always at 5. We never ate in the evenings at my house although some families had supper of maybe cheese and crackers.

I have been eating just twice a day for some years now. It started because I am not hungry when I get up in the morning. I tend to eat breakfast around 10.30 to 11.00 with an evening dinner say 6.30 - 7.30 no set time really. The evening is when I east the most.
So I guess I do fast for 15 hrs or round about.
My weight is around 9 and a half stone, size 12 - 14 which is ok.
I eat not by the clock but when I am hungry.
