Is anyone else digging out music that they don't often listen to? I've just put on Best of The Byrds and am worried that I haven't got a Beach Boys cd [may have an audio tape somewhere].

I don't know what happened and can't find a way to delete them.

Music for hot weather is the sound of grasshoppers.

Tegan Wed 23-Jul-14 20:41:11

I can't remember the last time I heard a grasshopper; I know they were everywhere when I lived in Cornwall [and gloworms and wild garlic]. Then there are the cicadas you hear abroad, although you don't actually hear them until you 'unhear' them when they stop confused.

I heard Chris Rea's 'On the Beach' today in a shop - I'd forgotten how evocative it is.

It's ten degrees cooler downstairs to upstairs; I've just checked with my Age UK thermometers.

My garden is full of the sound of grasshoppers these days smile.

My patio today was humming with all sorts of bees including honey bees at last. I was getting worried. Loads of spiders, bugs of all sorts, but unusually no aphids.

Ana Wed 23-Jul-14 21:53:41

No ladybirds either. I saw one in the Spring, but none since...sad

whitewave Wed 23-Jul-14 21:58:50

Squillions of blackfly. Bumbles, but not as many as I would expect but no honey bees.

Butterflies seem to be in greater numbers this year though.

Tegan Wed 23-Jul-14 22:42:26

Just realised I've not seen any ladybirds lately hmm.

Ana Wed 23-Jul-14 22:43:57

I just said that...

No music at all would be good. Tonight I was sitting peacefully in my garden, topping and tailing the last of the gooseberries, listening to the birds, the bees, the sheep then next door turned up their music with all their windows open.

Other people's choice is never any good unless it suits your mood.
